As most of you know Jamaica was broadsided by one of the most powerful hurricanes in the history of recording hurricanes in the Atlantic basin. The hit was severe. Currently, homes are leveled, roads washed away, and communication infrastructure is in shambles. Most of you are also aware much of Vermont’s fruit and vegetable crops are grown, harvested, and processed by Jamaican workers that come to Vermont for months on end away from their families. These workers are an important part of our Vermont community. Their labor helps to keep the working landscape of Vermont open and viable. We, as a large apple farm in Vermont, are grateful for their commitment to our business. We believe you should be too. It is time for us to show our appreciation to our Jamaican friends by donating to the GFM campaign provided in the link below. The link provides details of how the funds will be dispersed. We have joined forces with several Vermont farms to try to cast the widest net of support in hopes of having the greatest impact on the lives of the workers who directly impact our world in Vermont.
